WACD Hothouse welcomes Myrrhia Rodriguez

Myrrhia is focused on developing a sustainable interdisciplinary practice converging dance, performance, and video. Her favorite mantras are "just get moving" and "get what you need," and that's exactly how she approaches her work. Myrrhia recently showed versions of her latest piece Now You See Me? at Pieter and REDCAT, and is creating a new iteration for a fall showing at Highways.

Myrrhia has had the pleasure to perform in an installation of Floor of the Forest at the Hammer Museum, as well as the work of Victoria Marks, Ros Warby, Jmy James Kidd, and Johanna Hedva. You can follow Myrrhia on instagram and twitter at @dance_a_diem.

About Hothouse: UCLA Department of World Arts and Cultures/Dance is pleased to announce the tenth annual Hothouse Program scheduled for August 22-Sept 9, 2016. The “Hothouse” concept was developed by UCLA faculty member Victoria Marks to support the creation of new work by Los Angeles choreographers and to encourage interactive exchange during the creative process. Hothouse provides a residency for the creation of new work for local choreographers at UCLA's Glorya Kaufman Hall. Each choreographer/performance artist will be invited to use studio space free of charge for 4 hours/day, 5days/week for three weeks. In exchange for the Hothouse residency, artists are asked to share their work through informal presentations on the final day of the residency. In addition, artists may share some part of their work creative process with WAC/D students and faculty during the subsequent months of the academic year, 2016-2017.
