PANG! in Los Angeles

Pang! is a project of Los Angeles-based producer, playwright and performance artist Dan Froot. Working with local artists and arts organizations, we are creating book-length oral histories of families living with food insecurity in Miami, Cedar Rapids and Los Angeles. We will then adapt some of each family’s stories into live a radio play. All three of those plays will be performed live in all three cities (at Miami Light Project, Legion Arts and 24th Street Theater) in 2017.

By opening a window into these families’ lives, we hope to raise awareness about the human dimensions of food insecurity, and to reduce the stigma of being food insecure, and to tell some kickass stories that otherwise might go untold.

We are partnering with Miami Light Project (Miami FL), Legion Arts (Cedar Rapids IA), and 24th Street Theater (South Central Los Angeles). Performances will premiere in 2017-2018 in all three cities.
